This animal is very common in the Soundarbans. It is one of the most beautiful dear in the world. They like to live in flock. In a flock there are 10-25 deer live together. Mostly they live in grassy forest. The main enemy of them is Royal Bangle tiger, which is only found in the Sundarban.

One year ago Tuni got married. She was eighteen years old. Her husband was a day laborer and an uneducated person. Tuni had a lot of dreams about her husband and her father-in-laws house. She used to dream about a happy family which was surrounded by love and happiness. She started her marriage life with happiness. However, her happiness didn’t stay for long time. At first Tuni’s husband was pleased with Tuni, but after some days he changed his behavior, he came to home at midnight. Day-by-day they faced many problem like misunderstanding and incredibility. Her husband didn’t believe her and she also likes that. Sometimes her husband’s beat her, but she didn’t have ability to protest.
Tuni didn’t know about her husband’s past. She was not interested to know about her husband’s past, because she was an illiterate person. Before her marriage her family didn’t get more information about her husband and his family, because her family was also uneducated and poor. After her marriage she knew that her husband had another wife and children. When she heard that she felt very sad, but she had nothing to do for against her husband. All her dreams were broken
Tuni thought that she was helpless and powerless. Now she knew her husband’s past. Her husband didn’t work after their marriage. He tries to force Tuni to go outside as a day laborer and earn money for him. Tuni didn’t agree to go. Then her husband tortured her. Sometimes he beat her and use slang words. Most of the time she didn’t say anything, but sometimes she raised her voice against her husband’s tortured, then her husband increases his tortured. Her parents couldn’t do anything for her. She lost her mother when she was child and her father got remarriage. As a result he didn’t look after his daughter. Her siblings didn’t do anything for her, because poverty took their voice. They had no ability to save her. In that she felt that another presence in her body.
This is common picture in rural area in Bangladesh. Tuni is the one example of them.

My previous post was about the squirrels. It that post I wrote squirrels is going to be extinct. Now the question is how?

I want to give this answer from my personal experience. I had grown I up in Bandarban, hill tract area in Bangladesh. When I was a child most of the time I saw that squirrels ate guava from our guava garden. My father did not know that how to protect them. Every day squirrels eta and my father did not do anything.

One day my father bought an air gun to kill the squirrels and he killed many squirrels. Now I am in Chittagong and once or twice a year I visit this place, but now I see a few numbers of squirrels in the tree. I think now it is clear that how squirrels are going to be extinct.

"Katbirali.... do you eat puffed rice?"

"Katbirali.... do you eat puffed rice?"

As other animal, Squirrels are also going to extinct. There is a rhyme, written by the national poet of Bangladesh about squirrel, named ‘Katbirali’. It says “squirrels, do you eat guava? Do you eat lemon?” We know that the squirrels damage our fruits in trees. However, they do not have sufficient to eat though because of lacking of trees. The squirrels are very innocent and they are available in everywhere in Bangladesh. They love to live in trees and play with their fellow mates. They move fast one tree to other tree. They have sharp teeth. This animal is also important for our biodiversity.

Common KIngfisher

Common Kingfisher

It is common in Bangladesh to see a bird in a little pond stand on a stick and waiting to catch a fish. The bird is called Machranga in bangla but the english name is Commom Kingfisher. The combination of blue in its body attracts everyone. This is very fast bird which has a passion to catch its food. The most important points to say that this birds need clear water and green srroundings to survive. As the earth loosing its beauty for cutting trees and pollution , the kingfisher is also going to be extinct. As a Bangladehsi I really do not want to lose this adorable nice bird.

A group students from zoology department in Chittagong University are researching about these tortoises. The goal of this group is to increase the number of tortoises, give them right place and proper care. I think if they take it seriously, the number of tortoises will increase. One think I would like to say that, make some rules for visitors because we all wish to see this unique tortoise forever.

Surprising news is some people tried to kill this rare species. In 2004, some people mixed poison in the pond. All fish had died, but fortunately the tortoises did not die by poisoning. After I visited the place I realized that it is very easy to do any harm for these tortoises. I was shocked to see that the authority does not have any security restriction; even they already faced one trouble.
