The Common Kingfisher (Machranga)

Common KIngfisher

Common Kingfisher

It is common in Bangladesh to see a bird in a little pond stand on a stick and waiting to catch a fish. The bird is called Machranga in bangla but the english name is Commom Kingfisher. The combination of blue in its body attracts everyone. This is very fast bird which has a passion to catch its food. The most important points to say that this birds need clear water and green srroundings to survive. As the earth loosing its beauty for cutting trees and pollution , the kingfisher is also going to be extinct. As a Bangladehsi I really do not want to lose this adorable nice bird.

  1. Shaty,

It is really a nice, little adorable bird. Nobody would want to lose it. I think it would be nice to share some of your ideas on what can we do to save it.

    Peace

  3. According to Zishrats question i would like to add sth. When i was small i had a fish pond and there was an enemy to these pet fishes i had. That was a big blue kingfisher. I never liked it as it killed many of my fishes that i was taking good care. Therefore, to get rid of this kingfish my brother and i did many things to that little bird. We even plan to kill it. However, we didn’t as the bird knew that it didn’t have a change to get any more fishes from our pond.

i would like to say through this small story is that it is not only t hunters who kill it, it can also be small children who protect its pets like fishes. So my question is, can you say this act is distorting the kingfisher species?

  4. I really like the story which Cris shared here. I’m wondered that the small reasons like little kids also kill birds to keep their fish tanks. I do agree with Prabi that the adorable bird should be conserved before it becomes endangered.

    Good Job!
